Modern and contemporary figurative paintings show John’s Scottish models, and some from China, draped and some nude as they pose in the studio, garden, on the beach and in bedroom. Scottish models are also captured in the Romantic Paintings page and are present in his Lady in Red series exploring life around Dundee, the City of Discovery.
John uses acrylic, watercolour, pastel and oil paints for his painting mediums, and is also happy to accept private commissions for pets, people, holidays, figurative paintings and any other topic.

“Silk Scarf” acrylic, 24 × 18 inches
Silk Scarf is a figure study with a Scottish model painted in acrylic. This sensual figurative painting was created in a dark room with light shining onto the model from one side and high lighting the Russian scarf (a present) around her middle. The artificial lights help to emphasize reflected lights on her face and arms.
