Modern and contemporary figurative paintings show John’s Scottish models, and some from China, draped and some nude as they pose in the studio, garden, on the beach and in bedroom. Scottish models are also captured in the Romantic Paintings page and are present in his Lady in Red series exploring life around Dundee, the City of Discovery.
John uses acrylic, watercolour, pastel and oil paints for his painting mediums, and is also happy to accept private commissions for pets, people, holidays, figurative paintings and any other topic.

“Bathed in Light” pastel and acrylic, 24 × 20 inches
Bathed in Light is a figurative painting in pastel and acrylic with a young lady posing on a bed while scantily clothed. This figure study started of in acrylic but then pastels were used to loosen up the background and figure to make it more modern. The whole painting was done in quiet tones except for the face when colour was added to make it the focal point.
